Connected apps
Connect your own accounts, such as Gmail, Google Calendar, or Notion, so the assistant can use them for you in the Web App.
Some assistants can work in apps you use: read your calendar, draft an email, or update a Notion page. To allow it, you connect your own account for that app. The assistant then acts with your account's access, and only for you.
Which apps appear depends on the assistant. Its owner chooses them; if there are none, the list shows "This assistant has no apps to connect."
Before you start
- You are signed in to the Web App.
- You have an account with the app you want to connect.
- Your browser allows pop-ups for this site. Sign-in opens in a small window.
Connect an app
From Settings
- Open the account menu and select Settings → Apps.
- Select Connect next to the app.
- Sign in to the app in the window that opens and approve the access it asks for.
- The window shows "Connected. You can close this window." and closes.
The app's status changes to Connected.
From a chat
If you ask for something that needs an app you have not connected, the assistant shows a card: "Connect your <app> account so the assistant can use it."
- Select Connect on the card and sign in.
- When the card says "Connected. Send your request again.", send your request again.
In a scheduled task, the card appears in the task's conversation. The next run uses the connection.
Statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Connected | The assistant can use the app for you. |
| Not connected | You have not connected the app, or you disconnected it. |
| Sign-in expired. Connect again. | The app no longer accepts the saved sign-in. Select Connect to sign in again. |
Disconnect an app
In Settings → Apps, select Disconnect next to the app. The saved sign-in is deleted, and access is revoked at the app when the app supports it. The assistant can no longer use that app for you until you connect it again.
Privacy and control
- Only you can use your connections. The assistant's owner and other people who chat with the assistant cannot use them.
- The assistant can do only what your account allows and what you approved when you signed in.
- Actions that change data in an app, such as sending an email, wait for your approval in the chat. See Approvals.
- You can disconnect at any time.
Troubleshooting
Assistant owners set up which apps their users can connect in the Admin Panel. See MCP servers.
